Silica Awareness - Online

Course overview

This course provides practical knowledge on how to identify and manage the risks of exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS).  It is suitable for anyone working in the construction, mining, transport, manufacturing, dentistry, artistry and any other industry where they may be exposed natural silica and engineered stone benchtops.  

The course covers:


  • What is silica?
  • Basic health hazards associated with exposure to silica and respirable crystalline silica dust.
  • Common products containing silica.
  • Common tasks that could result in exposure.
  • Typical control measures that may be implemented to protect workers from exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust including engineering controls, work practices and personal protective equipment.

Browser must have JavaScript enabled.

Speakers or headphones are required.

Internet connection with 2.5 Mbps+.

Upon completion, candidates will be awarded a certificate of completion in Silica Awareness.
